    Raise a child with values, norms and morals. When they are older, they will say thanks and be thankful they have not fallen with those who fall for valueless, no norms and can't understand the value of the worth. It's nice to see children that are taught the meaning of life. The meaning of life is to learn. Those who learn will lead. Those who don't, will learn to qwirk.

    As Salaam Alaikum Sister! How do you get the top of your bean pie dark but the middle light?

    • @SisterDIY
      @SisterDIY 4 місяці тому

      Walaikum Salaam! I really wish I knew the science behind it! I think it has something to do with how the ingredients are mixed. It took some trial and error on my end. My #1 tip is not to overmix. Thanks for watching!! My husband actually prefers the layers not to be separate and I even have some batches where it comes out without the top layer when it is my intention to do so. Still tastes great, of course. If you have trouble getting the top layer, keep trying. Be sure to start with mixing them in the order you see in the video and again, don’t overmix :)

    A few years ago I saw an article about bean pie and also a UA-cam video about the pie and the bakery in NYC that makes it. And recently, a group at church was talking about recipes and I asked if anyone had heard of or had bean pie. One woman had lived in NYC and had it years ago. So I went looking for a recipe and made it for our potluck tomorrow. I haven't tasted it yet because I didn't want to cut the pie until tomorrow. It smells wonderful! Thanks for posting the recipe.

    • @SisterDIY
      @SisterDIY 8 місяців тому

      It’s wonderful! You basically put all of your ingredients in the machine and it will do the rest. You can actually choose to have the machine just mix the dough and then you can bake it in your oven if you like. It also makes other types of bread and even quick bread like banana bread and even cake.

    This is the CLOSEST recipe I've found to my dad's. Does the pie naturally get darker on top?

    • @SisterDIY
      @SisterDIY 10 місяців тому

      It does. You definitely want to make sure that you don't over mix it because this can impact the results of getting that thin layer on the top, but if you happen to over mix, it will still taste great! When I first started making these I had to make quite a few to finally start getting consistent results so definitely keep making them if you are not happy with the look of your first pie.
